If you haven't already found it, you should check out Bike Walk Tulsa (http://bikewalktulsa.org). Of course, I think the more active transportation blogs the better so start one up! I'd love to read it.

I do my best on the Tulsa side of things and will continue to do so. The distance was 12 miles each way in SLC back in the early 80's and 8 miles each way later. I've lived in Here Edmond, OK, since 1996. My commute here is just five miles each way. An east-west commute so prevailing winds aren't much of an issue. Spring to fall when daylight is longer, I often take in a longer ride, 20-35 miles going home, joining a group ride along the way when possible.

I’ve commuted to work via bicycle on and off since 1974, then non-stop since & year round since Nov 2007. I don't see myself as a powerful cycling advocate, but I am very interested in seeing the cycling climate improve in Oklahoma City and in the state. Perhaps more can be done beyond placing "Share the Road" signs on bike routes.

I don’t have to work on the 4th, so I may try to attend both days. isPermaLink="false">http://www.okcbicyclist.com/?p=774#comment-569

Since I've only been commuting seriously for a few months now, and before it was only fair weather commuting, I got to experience my first rainy commute a couple of weeks ago. My bike already has fenders so the only preparation needed was packing everything in my panniers inside trash bags, and buying a $2 rain poncho. The rain was semi-heavy, so I wasn't expecting to see anyone else out on a bike, but halfway through my ride I saw the unmistakable flash of a blinking rear LED ahead and later caught up to a fellow commuter. The poncho kept everything surprisingly dry with the exception being my feet. Not only was the ride not as bad as I was expecting, it was actually fun! And I like to imagine what people think when they drive past.

Since I’ve only been commuting seriously for a few months now, and before it was only fair weather commuting, I got to experience my first rainy commute a couple of weeks ago.
